Actor/Performer headshots
Why
Every actor/model/dancer/singer/performer knows they need a headshot, but every headshot doesn't actually help them with their career. Headshots are more than just a picture of your face—they can communicate a lot to a casting director who is flipping through hundreds of headshot submissions per day. It’s one of the most important, if not the most important, tool you’ll use to book jobs.
Your headshot basically has 3 options:
It can say the right things and help you get an audition.
It can say the wrong things and keep you from getting an audition.
It can not say enough and keep you from getting an audition.
Your headshot session is designed for us to work together to capture engaging images that show both confidence and approachability. You’ll be coached into forming a connection and comfortability with the camera that will come through in your photos. We'll shoot a lot, have a ton of fun, and only keep the shots we both love. We'll create a range of looks in your shots—generally 3–5 different looks depending on your needs—that you'll be able to use for different purposes.
Getting new headshots can be intimidating for even the most seasoned actors but there is absolutely no pressure on you to "pose right", etc. as you’ll be coached into your best angles. We'll have a blast (as you can see from some of the outtakes on this page) and come out of it with some amazing headshots that are designed to get you auditions.
The Session
The camera is tethered to a computer during the shoot so we'll periodically pause to sit together and review the shots on a large screen. We'll discuss what's working and why, as well as figure out what remaining looks you want to get. While hundreds of shots will be taken during the session, by going through them together, we'll delete like crazy, and only keep shots that have received both your and Dan’s stamp of approval.
Our headshot sessions are closed ones, meaning others will not be watching while we shoot. You are welcome to bring a friend or family member with you to the session, but they will be asked to wait out of your line of sight while we shoot so as not to be distracting. Our main concern there is that we don't want you to get self-conscious and it's easier to relax without spectators.
After your session, you’ll receive an email with a URL to view your shots online—they'll be ready for viewing within 48 hrs after your session. You can share the URL with whoever you'd like to help you decide which shot or shots you want to use—your agency, manager, friends, family, etc. In order to maintain a certain level of quality, unretouched high resolution files are not given to clients. After payment for final selects has been made, we will retouch them and a link will be emailed to you to download the high resolution files for all final retouched selected shots.
The Studios
Florida Studio
LAKELAND, FL
For those in the central Florida area, we'll be shooting in a dedicated studio that is connected to a house in the Beacon Hill neighborhood of South Lakeland near the Southgate Shopping Plaza. It’s about a 10 min drive from I-4 and a 6 min drive from the Polk Parkway/FL-570.
The studio includes a sound system, A/C and heat, WiFi and an area to review images on an external monitor as we go.
Just off the studio is a bathroom, a separate changing room, and also another room with couches for anyone who comes with you. If you're into music, make a playlist of your favorite songs and stuff that gives you energy or makes you feel something, and we'll have that going while we shoot. Don't sweat it if you don't bring a playlist, we have a Spotify playlist for shoots ready to go.
New York Studio

SESSIONS FOR CHILDREN
We know all about limited attention spans and how kids can tire out quickly. For these reasons, we have a couple options for kids/young adults.
For children 12 to 17, we offer a $250 headshot session that lasts around 1.5 to 2 hours and requires a $75 deposit to book which is non-refundable and goes towards the $250 total. This price includes one retouched final photo but any additional retouched selects may be purchased for $50 per shot.
For children 11 and under, we offer a $150 headshot session that lasts around 1 to 1.5 hours and requires a $50 deposit to book which is non-refundable and goes towards the $150 total. This price includes one retouched final photo but any additional retouched selects may be purchased for $50 per shot.
We understand how quickly kids grow up and consequently require updated headshots more frequently than adults. This is one of the reasons our sessions for children are less than adults. In addition, just as with the returning adult clients, kids who have had a previous actor headshot session with us are offered a returning client discount of 25% off your original session rate.
Payment
There is a deposit required to book a session and hold your date and time slot, this is non-refundable and goes towards the total. The remaining balance is due at least 24 hrs before your session. We currently accept payment through Zelle, Venmo or Cash App.
BOOKING YOUR SESSION
We currently shoot on weekdays and select Saturdays and Sundays. Our shoot times are flexible depending on the schedule for that day and what works best for our clients. The session can last about 3 to 4 hrs for women and 2 to 3 hours for men. If that sounds like a long time, trust us, it goes by fast. Please ensure you book an appointment for when you have the time, can be relaxed, and don't have somewhere you're trying to rush off to. Appointments are booked first come first served and the deposit is required to hold your appointment. If you need to get in for a session ASAP or have a rush to get new headshots, then we'll do our best to accommodate you.
HOW TO GET THE MOST OUT OF YOUR Actor Headshot SESSION
-
Get plenty of sleep the week before your shoot, especially the night before your shoot. It looks better in the pictures to actually be rested and full of energy than it does to fake it.

WOMEN
Makeup for the session is recommended for women. You'll do your own makeup and be sure to bring your makeup with you as well. Healthy skin is best, so make sure your face is clean and moisturized. The style of makeup should be a very natural look with a "less is more" approach, especially to start. By starting the makeup very light, you can subtly build on it as we go to slightly change the look. So we'll start with more casual looks with very little makeup and we'll get to dressier evening looks by the end. If at all possible, please use a base that is not powder. Also, please don't attempt to cover up acne or blemishes with makeup—we can retouch blemishes away on the computer and it will look better if there isn't a bunch of extra makeup in the area. If you pluck your eyebrows, please go easy. Eyebrows are an important ingredient in your expressions. Also, because the lighting shows a lot, you'll be able to tell if you're wearing colored contacts, so we recommend against wearing them.Come with your hair already done as if you were going to an audition or just out for the day. Whatever your hairstyle is, it needs to be "you," and it needs to be something you can easily recreate for auditions. Please also bring any styling products and comb/brush/pick you may need. If your hair is longer, we'll shoot it down as well as put it up in order to create different looks—so please also bring a scrunchy or hair tie.
MEN
Makeup is not recommended for men. Healthy skin is best, so make sure your face is clean and moisturized. Dry skin will show in the pictures. You'll want to check for ear or nose hair that's visible and take care of that prior to your session. If you can grow a little facial hair and would like to shoot looks both scruffy and clean shaven, then grow it and bring your razor/shaving kit and you can shave once we're sure we've gotten the shots we want with the scruff.Come with your hair already done as if you were going to an audition or just out for the day. Whatever your hairstyle is, it needs to be "you," and it needs to be something you can easily recreate for auditions. Please also bring any styling products and comb/brush/pick you may need.

We recommend that you bring 9 to 12 different looks for yourself (tops only). The most important thing is that everything you bring is something you love. You have to feel comfortable wearing it. If you don't, then you won't shoot well in it.
Don't bring clothes just because you think they will help you get a certain part. Be yourself and bring a wide range of clothes that reflect your own personal style. Bringing a variety of colors is also recommended with the only color we don't recommend bringing being one that is close to your own skin tone. Bright colors, muted colors, black, and even white all work great. Remember, your headshots will be something you'll use year-round, so don't just bring colors or clothes according to the season. Tank tops, t-shirts, v-necks, sweaters, button-down shirts, dress shirts, light jackets, sports coats, and even dresses can all work well. For dresses, remember that you'll only see the top part of the dress, so strapless dresses and tube tops may not work well since you may not see the clothing in the cropped headshot and you don’t want it to appear like you aren't wearing anything. Textures are great, but try your best to avoid busy patterns or clothing that could draw too much attention in the shot. We want people to notice you, not your clothes.
If you don't bring it, then we can't try it, so bring it if you are having a hard time deciding. Just remember the most important thing is that everything you bring be something you love and feel comfortable wearing. In case some of your items are badly wrinkled, we have an iron and a steamer that you may use while here.
Another thing you can do is go shopping for new clothes! If there's something you're missing, buy it, leave the tags on, we'll shoot it and then you can return it after we're done if it's not something you want to keep.
Wearing jewelry is not recommended for actor headshots. Corporate, social media, and portrait headshots are different and certainly allow for wearing jewelry.

Eat a sensible meal before you come. If you skip a meal before your shoot, then your energy won't be there. On the other hand, if you stuff yourself before coming, you may feel bogged down and just want to take a nap. Since your session is a few hours long, there will be some mixed fruit for you to snack on too. You're also welcome to bring your own snacks as well, although don’t bring anything that could leave a color on your teeth or lips or anything that could end up leaving crumbs in your teeth or facial hair (if applicable).
